Live at the Chapel celebrates 25 years this year with a return to its original venue of Chapel Off Chapel in the inner city Melbourne suburb of Prahran.
Tucked in behind the bustling shopping and dining precinct of Melbourne's iconic Chapel Street, Chapel Off Chapel first opened as an arts space in 1995. Since then, this cherished venue has built a reputation as one of the city’s most versatile and beloved cultural spaces. Housed in a historic chapel building dating back to 1858, the venue blends a unique heritage charm with some inspiring modern touches.
The first Live at the Chapel took place in September 1999 when a production team resembling a small army assembled inside the non-denominational bluestone chapel. Between 1999 and 2008, 68 Live At The Chapel shows were hosted at Chapel Off Chapel before the series moved to Sydney for a further 11 shows at venues in Paddington and Newtown.
Broadcast across radio, TV, and online, Live At The Chapel became one of the most talked about music experiences in Australia and the hottest ticket in town.
With its 180-seat capacity, the Chapel offers fans the chance to feel close to their favourite artists in a way few other venues can. Beyond the main stage, Chapel Off Chapel also serves as a hub for Melbourne’s thriving arts scene, supporting local performers who embody the spirit of creativity and inclusivity that defines Melbourne.
